Conceived as a “single” office, the presidency has the ability to make quick decisions and act. In the twentieth century, a strong executive power emerged and was institutionalized in U.S. national politics as the power of the president, the office of the president, and the executive branch, and the expectations of the population for strong presidential leadership increased.
